What is the use of Key Result Status Propagation?

Category: OKRs

Profit.co provides an option to enable/disable Objective/Key Result Status Propagation toggle to control the sub-key result propagation based on their statuses.

Why this feature?

  • Based on your requirements, we can decide whether the sub-key result progresses to reflect/not in the Objective/Parent Key Result.
  • The ability to determine sub-key result progress enhances goal alignment, enabling informed decisions to advance or discard them in the Objective/Parent Key Result.

Step 1

Go to Settings → OKRs → Authoring from the left navigation panel, and switch to the Statuses tab.

Note: Only Super Users can modify OKR statuses.

On the Statuses page, you can also enable/disable the Objective/Parent Key Result Status Propagation toggle to control the Sub key result progress propagation.

Step 2

For instance, let’s consider a parent Key Result which has three Sub-key results.

Here the status of the Key Result is given below according to the color codes,

  • 1st Sub Key Result → On Track
  • 2nd Sub Key Result → At Risk
  • 3rd Sub Key Result → In Trouble

The Parent Key Result progress is shown in orange, indicating that it is in an 'At Risk' status.

Step 3

For instance, let’s disable the Objective/Parent Status Propagation toggle for the 'On Track' status.

Let’s check-in the sub key results present in the parent key result.

The progress of the Parent Key Result is shown in red, indicating that it is in the 'In Trouble' status.

This is because the first sub-key result, which is in 'On Track' status, has not been taken into account for progress.
