What is Resource Management in the PPM module?

Profit.co provides an option for users to keep track of the Resources in the project portfolio module.

Why this feature?

• Resource management tools allow for accurate time allocation and tracking, ensuring tasks are completed on time while helping teams meet deadlines and stay on track.
• The detailed progress and utilization tracking helps identify underutilized or overworked employees, enabling better resource distribution and improving overall team productivity.

Resource Management

Effective Resource Management ensures successful project execution by strategically allocating time and resources to tasks. This approach helps teams work efficiently and meet deadlines. Using resource management tools provides insights into task progress, monitors employee utilization, and highlights areas for improvement.

Step 1

To allocate time to tasks:

Navigate to All Projects from the left panel, select your preferred project, and switch to the Tasks tab. On the Task page, select the task for which you want to allocate time to an employee.

Step 2 

Set the Start Date and Due Date, input the Estimated Hours, and track time as needed. Once time allocation is set, the details will automatically update and reflect on the Resource Management page.

Step 3

To view the Resource Management page:

Navigate to Portfolios and Projects and select Cockpit from the left navigation panel.

Switch to the Resource Management tab to see detailed task progress for each employee, including allocated hours and utilization hours.

Note:

Color Indicators in Resource Management:

Grey Line: No tasks are assigned to the employee.

Full Grey: A task is assigned to the employee.

Light Green Bar: Total allocated hours match the estimated hours for a task.

Light Red Bar: Estimated hours exceed the total allocated hours (e.g., allocated 40 hours vs. estimated 50 hours).

Dark Green Bar: Utilized hours fall within the allocated time.
