Develop a World-Class Employee Onboarding Program
In this example, we’ll create the OKR: Develop a World-Class Employee Onboarding Program. This objective is ambitious and targets an important facet of the HR department’s responsibilities. To build an onboarding program that is effective, useful, and gives the new employee everything they need to succeed, you need to think about many moving parts, and how this program could set the tone for their experience at your company.
The key results we could use to measure an Objective such as this are:
- Decrease new hire 90-day failure rate from 10% to 5%
- Increase the percentage of employees achieving at least 0.8 score in productivity assessment by managers from 60% to 85%
Improve new employee satisfaction score after onboarding from 75% to 95%
Let’s input this OKR in the Profit.co software.
After entering your Objective, you’ll create a new key result using the form. Input the first key result title– improve new employee satisfaction score after onboarding from 75% to 95%– and select the target date for completing this key result. Then, because this key result has a metric we’d like to increase, we’ll select increase KPI from the drop down menu under key result type. You can create a new KPI by pressing the plus icon, browse using the magnifying glass, or simply type in the KPI you’d like to use, and select from the suggested results. Set the values for this KPI- increase 75% to 95%.
Then, you can indicate if you’d like to assign this key result to another member of your team, and add any additional context. Finally, select the desired frequency for check-ins on this key result, and press create.
Now, you have a clear and specific key result that will necessarily impact your objective of developing a world-class onboarding program. Here are the other key results that will assist–
By keeping your Objective clear and aspirational, and taking the time to develop impactful, specific key results, you will be well-situated to fulfill your OKRs and meet your ambitious, important goals.
